Healthcare Reform
Individual Plans and Medicare

While the changing landscape of health care can be confusing and overwhelming, Benefit Concepts, Inc. is ready to help clients navigate through the changes and choose the best available plans. While government call centers are being flooded, BCI's Sara DeBiasi is devoted to helping individuals - including retirees - make sense of the Affordable Care Act, ensure clients understand all of their options and advise them on selecting the best healthcare coverage. By working with Sara, clients work with an expert who understands not only the intricacies of healthcare reform – but also the needs of her clients.

Effective January 1, 2014, many changes will take place in the individual health insurance marketplace. Sara is committed to assist you in making decisions for yourself and/or for your dependents.

Some changes that will take place to individual policies include:

  • No medical underwriting
  • No pre-existing conditions
  • All contracts will be single - meaning each person within a family will have a separate policy
  • Mandate that everyone is insured – or pay an excise tax penalty
  • Federal Health Insurance Exchange

Many individuals who have made no material changes to their plans since Health Care Reform was enacted on March 23, 2010, have "grandfathered" coverage, meaning these clients do not have to do anything to keep coverage as is. However, individuals will receive correspondence offering new coverage. Because the first quarter of 2014 will be an evolving time for the new laws, BCI recommends waiting until after March 2014 to weigh your options. Sara will be able to assist you with your choices and options both on and off the Exchanges.

Health care is critical to an aging population, and retirees are likely to have many questions when enrolling in Original Medicare and selecting additional health care to complete the Medicare "package." Retirees want comfort not only in their coverage but also stability that comes with consistent care. While many Medicare products are standardized by the Federal government, an individual's need is NOT. Sara helps retirees navigate the available options and choose the plan that best fits their needs.

Whether your questions revolve around understanding the ACA, which plan is right for you and when and if you need to make changes to your coverage, Sara is available for all of your needs.
